As usual, the restaurant closed early on Monday. That gave Angelina plenty of time to find something special.

State Street, here I come.

Her pulse quickened with hope. This could be the day.

Setting out on her quest, she decided to remain open to possibilities. Once the right dress presented itself, she’d recognize it.

Her meanderings took her to Macy’s, where her eyes lit on a cranberry colored velvet gown, actually in her size, hanging in the midst of the other holiday dresses and pants suits. At the sight, her heart knocked against her ribs.

It’s the one.

In the dressing room, her fingers fumbled as she unzipped the gown and removed it from the hanger. She told herself not to get excited. It might not fit.

Still, it looked so pretty, she couldn’t help hoping.

She pulled it on over her head. Her shaky fingers somehow managed to get it zipped.

Taking a deep breath, Angelina turned to face the mirror. Determined to be objective, she analyzed her find.

The gown hugged her curves in all the right places, with the front plunging enough to expose a bit of cleavage, without overdoing it. The waist tucked in, nicely emphasizing her curves.

A glance in the opposite mirror revealed the back of the dress also plunged just enough, but not too much.

This was it!

Not only did the gown look perfect, but her Christmas necklace, earrings, and ring would match nicely. Her black patent leather heels and purse would easily complete the ensemble.

The search had ended.

Breathing a sigh of relief, she headed for the checkout.
